In the wake of heavy downpours that led to inundation across sections of the city, the City of Angels is now grappling with unseasonably high temperatures for this time of year.

During the day Friday, the temperature soared to 33 degrees Celsius (91 Fahrenheit) in downtown Los Angeles, per data from weather officials. This breaks the previous daily record for February 27th, which was eighty-eight degrees Fahrenheit and was established in 2025.
"Exceptionally warm weather" were labeled on NWS graphics for the region.
Safety Advisories
Authorities stated that Friday's heat posed an "elevated risk for heat illness" for vulnerable populations. Their advice featured:
- Staying hydrated.
- Avoiding outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
- Never leaving anyone unattended in a car.
A Sharp Weather Swing
This sharp rise in mercury follows closely after a powerful storm system that struck the state last week. That system brought thunderstorms, high winds, and heavy snow to higher elevations, leading to mudslide risks for millions residents.

Other locales that experienced ninety degrees featured Burbank, Woodland Hills, and Long Beach. Elsewhere, Oxnard, Westwood, Camarillo, and Santa Maria were expected to reach the upper eighties.
In the coming days, central LA can expect readings in the 80s, with cooler weather expected for the week ahead.
