Australian rugby league's administration has stated that athletes who sign with the “breakaway” R360 will be prohibited for 10 years.

R360, set to start in October 2026, is aiming to attract athletes from both codes with hefty contracts and a condensed fixture list.

Leading rugby league players have reportedly been approached by the new league, which will feature six to eight men's clubs and four women's sides operating from major cities around the world.

Samoa's the player, who plays for New Zealand Warriors in the league, has stated he has had discussions with R360.

Papenhuyzen, Lomax, Haas and Jye Gray are also reported to be considering joining the rebel league.

Eight major rugby union teams, such as Australia, last week declared a ban on athletes signing with R360 appearing in global fixtures.

“We have consulted our franchises and we've taken firm action,” said ARLC chairman Peter V'Landys.

“Regrettably, there will persistently exist entities that seek to pirate our game for potential financial gain.

“They fail to contribute in development systems or the growth of players. They simply exploit the dedication of existing bodies, putting players at risk of monetary damage while gaining personally.

“In truth, they represent, copying the game.”

R360 is launched by former England World Cup winner Tindall and funded by independent financiers.

Following the prospective rugby union sanctions were revealed last week, it commented: “We want to work in partnership as a component of the international rugby schedule.

“The competition is arranged with customized calendars for male and female sides and we will allow all athletes for international matches, as specified in their agreements.”

The new league will apply for endorsement for its initiatives from rugby union's governing body, the sport's administrative organization, at its council meeting in the coming year.
