Renowned Performer Pat Finn, Known For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Has Died at Age 60.
US entertainer Pat Finn, who featured in beloved television series including Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has died aged 60.
The comedy and improvisation performer succumbed at his home in Los Angeles, California on Monday following treatment for a cancer diagnosis beginning in 2022, according to news outlets.
"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - only friends he had yet to meet," his family stated in a message.
They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with zest and passion".
A Notable Career on Screen
His debut TV appearance was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.
He also had a regular part on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.
He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a host who would assign unpleasant chores to his guests.
Throughout the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on numerous hit series, like:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House
His most famous role for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight series between 2011 and 2018.
His film credits are "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
Off-Screen Life
Away from his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the Colorado university, where he was a faculty member.
He was involved with a comedy group of six known as Beer Shark Mice.
"He coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils over the years and it would be difficult to find anyone anyplace who has anything negative to say about him," his loved ones expressed.
Offering condolences, peer Richard Kind noted there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, assisting others to improve and be funnier. An excellent dad and person," he posted on social media.
The actor is remembered by his spouse Donna, his three kids, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
