Supporters Call for Arrest of Individual Who Touched Ariana Grande
Passionate supporters of the pop star are calling for that a man who leaped a barrier and touched the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good premiere be arrested or deported from Singapore.
A circulating video reveals the individual from Australia pushing past media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the cast walked down a event pathway flanked by supporters.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo promptly wrested the stunned performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being removed of the event by event staff.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "released after being taken in", though official papers indicated that he was set to appear on the following morning. It is not clear if he was formally accused.
Record of Event Invasions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Notorious Troublemaker", has crashed a celebrity gathering. His Instagram profile includes videos of him disturbing other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney performance in earlier this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers performance in the same location last year.
"Measures must be taken applied against him as this is clearly a legal violation," commented an Instagram commenter, in a message to a video Mr Wen posted of his act.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" a different Instagram user questioned.
Followers Express Concern Over Grande's Safety
Many supporters accused Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had discussed experiencing PTSD after a devastating incident at the finale of her 2017 performance in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" wrote one more comment on Instagram.
Some supporters also criticised security officers at the premiere for not being vigilant enough; while different individuals called for digital services to block Mr Wen's videos.
Response and Event Details
In videos circulating online, Grande seemed startled when she was grabbed by the man. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed consoling her while Mr Wen was led out by security.
Grande has not commented on the incident, and the premiere activities proceeded as normal.
Hundreds of supporters had assembled in a mass of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore venue, including some who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it commenced.
The film, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the follow-up of a two-film version of the popular theatrical show Wicked, which revolves around the surprising relationship between two contrasting witches.
The show itself is a adaptation of the 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the character Glinda Glinda, was adorned in a rosé sequin dress at the premiere while Erivo, who plays the Elphaba, wore a black tube gown decorated with roses.
They were alongside fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the most successful film of last year in the UK, and earned ten Oscar nominations, securing two for best costume and production design.
