The Gruesome Cartoon Movie Conclusion That Lingers Audiences
Out of every mature animated films I’ve personally watched, no other has lingered in my mind quite like the fear-filled finale of a graphically gory and highly provocative 2022 movie Unicorn Wars.
In the year 2015, this Spain-based writer-director developed a dark, somber and frequently brutal world with some tiny , desolate hints of optimism.
While Unicorn Wars feels like it came from a drive to expand animation further, the director clarified that it was rather an effort to convey a widespread, multicultural theme regarding “the shared root of each battle.”
That idea is expressed via a squad of vividly colored bears , clearly modeled after a famous line of lovable figures.
Being raised in a society focused on aggression and the defense industry, many of these animals are consumed by killing unicorns, because of a sacred text that claims them they were once masters of the woodland, before the horned beings drove them out.
Some have not completely bought into the indoctrination, and choose to sample narcotics or fornicate outdoors.
Unlike their cuddly counterparts, these bright beings display genitals , obvious urges.
For one particularly cruel, skeptical animal, Bluey, the battle with unicorns turns into a road to power — and specifically to supremacy above his gentler, kinder brother Tubby.
Bluey acts as a tormentor and an obvious sociopath , and while terror takes over his unit and takes his comrades individually, he seizes progressively influence on his own behalf, in increasingly gory, destructive ways.
Meanwhile, the horned creatures are experiencing their own nightmare, through a spreading, destructive monster in their forest.
“At the beginning, it feels like a lighthearted film,” the director stated. “However it becomes a more intense and sorrowful film. And by the end, it’s a horror film.”
The Unicorn Wars starts out similar to among the playful features by a legendary animator, that uncover a naughty glee in allowing cartoon characters swear, engage in violence, or have intimate relations.
Afterward it becomes something more like a more grim movie from the same director, featuring progressively explicit brutality and a tangible connection to the actual horror of battle.
In the finale, it becomes a complete extreme drama bloodbath.
The horror which makes the film a perfect Halloween movie starts much sooner than indicated.
Unicorn Wars is ideal for the hardcore lovers of violence, for enthusiasts of graphic films who wish to watch a movie they haven’t ever seen on-screen before, and are able to withstand a story that pulls no restraint.
Watch it in a dimly lit space with no disturbances, and that ending will dig into your mind and stay with you.
