Ways these Broncos and the malleable QB could stop that Chiefs' dominance.

Week six of the 2025 NFL season

Real-time updates includes text commentary for Sunday's games on various channels, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Also, audio coverage can be heard on select stations covering a separate game (from 21:00 BST).

We're in the sixth week of the football calendar , following last week's talk regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as possible championship contenders, each surrendered their perfect starts.

Notable during those contests were the number of penalties each conceded. The Eagles committed them at crucial times so they kind of defeated themselves having led by two touchdowns going into the final quarter against the Denver Broncos, set to play in London this Sunday.

But it proved good to observe how Denver quarterback Bo Nix was able to overcome that deficit before direct three scoring drives in three attempts in the fourth quarter, securing the victory by four points.

Denver boast the top defender in cornerback Pat Surtain II. They are number one in goal-line defense, while the Eagles lead the league in red zone offence, yet the Broncos won that battle.

They executed effective strategies in terms of simulated pressure. They did not always rushing more than four pass rushers but they could plug two LBs in the 'A' gap then drop them out and dispatch a nickel from the outside.

At the start of the season, we said on a program how Denver might emerge as this season's dark horses. They ended the previous year well and did a good job of building upon that.

Are the Denver Broncos this season's underdog story?

Recently acquired tight end their tight end has excelled significantly and recent RB JK Dobbins is a guy the team trusts. He now ranks fifth in the NFL in ground gains (402) as well as tied for fourth in rushing scores (4).

I love how the coach Sean Payton has "RUSH!" at the top of his playcall sheet.

That shows that the Broncos represent a team aiming to run first, since you can achieve much based on that approach. It slows opposing rushes while keeps you in favourable down and distances.

It's also benefited QB Bo Nix, who came into the league as a first-round selection last year, throwing 29 touchdown passes – second only to Justin Herbert in rookie records (31 back in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert possess powerful arms to throw all over, however they don't move in the same way that Nix has. He boasts exceptional arm talent, a unique trait, and he is highly agile.

His assets are his movement, being able to pass on the run, and using different arm angles to deliver throws when he rolls out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He is able to throw that layered pass over the middle and over the corner.

For a young quarterback, at 25, he displays great poise in the pocket and is not really fazed by extra rushers. He tries to avoid being tackled as much as possible and is able pass under pressure. He has sharp intelligence and remains very decisive.

If you consistently run the ball it eats up the clock and makes the defence to be in play extended periods, and when you've got an athletic quarterback the defense must defend the area vertically side to side. This proves draining.

Nix has pushed back at Payton during games at times and I think Payton appreciates that fire, seeing him as such a competitor. In my view it's exciting for him to have a young quarterback who's kind of like moldable clay. The coach can truly develop him how he wants to build it. I think it's a unique opportunity for the coach.

The head coach owns a Super Bowl and now surpassed a legend in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed it all. I think the achievements the Broncos are experiencing offensively is mostly down to his guidance, his play-calling, his situational awareness – and the pairing with Nix helps shape him into who he is.

You wouldn't want a better guy in your ear, to assist you through difficult moments and build self-belief.

I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet are they strong enough to go against a top squad at full strength? Since that was not a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia last Sunday.

Currently, I don't think the Broncos are incredible. They're working better than most, which is a good place to hold the AFC West. All they need is to continue this path.

They excel at leaning into their forte, which is running the ball, and that's exactly what they must do versus the New York Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.

The Jets have allowed 140 yards on the ground per game (among the worst), five rushing touchdowns so far (in the bottom ten), and they are the sole squad yet to win a game.

Ever since the NFL started recording takeaways decades ago, the Jets are also the first team to be without any turnovers in five outings, this is surprising considering that their new coach was previously a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.

Patrick Mahomes stated Kansas City are off to a poor start after a recent loss by the Jaguars.

After the upcoming matchup, Denver have a manageable slate until their bye (in week 12) - the New York Giants, the Cowboys, Houston Texans and the Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.

Looking at their division, the Chiefs are 2-3 and the Broncos are even with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 meaning they could make a run for the top of the division.

It depends upon what version Kansas City shows up they face because Denver {beat|def
